# Data Deletion Policy

## The Lost Project - Data Deletion Instructions

### Overview

This policy explains how users can request deletion of their personal data from The Lost Project.

### How to Request Data Deletion

Users can request deletion of their personal data by:

1. **Emailing us directly:**
- Send an email to: privacy@thelostproject.in
- Include your full name and email address
- Specify what data you want deleted

2. **In-app request (if available):**
- Navigate to Settings → Privacy
- Select "Request Data Deletion"
- Follow the on-screen instructions

3. **Through our website:**
- Visit https://www.thelostproject.in/contact
- Select "Data Deletion Request" as the subject
- Provide details of what data to delete

### What Data Can Be Deleted

Users can request deletion of:

- Profile information (name, email, phone)
- Account preferences and settings
- Project and task data
- Calendar events and reminders
- Chat messages and conversation history
- Files and documents uploaded
- Notification preferences

### Processing Timeline

- **Standard Request:** 30 days
- **Urgent Request:** 7 days
- We will send a confirmation email when deletion is complete

### Verification

To prevent unauthorized deletion, we will:

1. Verify your identity via email confirmation
2. Request additional verification if needed
3. Confirm the deletion scope before proceeding

### Exceptions

The following data may not be immediately deleted:

- Legally required records (for up to 7 years)
- Data needed to resolve disputes
- Aggregated/anonymized analytics data
